Calligraphy classes taught by Ellen Simon Layout and Design, Oct. 10, 1:00 - 3:00, 6 weeks. An intermediate level class. Learn the basics—balance, texture, dominance, contrast, thumbnails, etc.—to incorporate in at least two finished pieces of art. Bring 14”x17” layout paper (for example, Bienfang Graphics 360), T square, HB pencil and quotes that "speak to your heart." Beginning Italic Calligraphy, Oct. 11, 9:30 - 11:30, 6 weeks (there will be no class on Nov. 1) No previous experience necessary. This class is for beginners as well as those who want to fine tune their italic. Beginner supplies, available at the first class, will cost approximately $20–$25. Please let us know if you are left-handed. Continuing students should bring their usual supplies to the first class. All students should bring an all-cotton rag, two colored pencils and a water container. Classes will be at the JCC, 6701 Hoover Rd., Indianapolis. You do not have to be a member to attend classes.
